Lurgan Blues where formed in 2001 and due to the large status off the club where immediatley instated into the top
league of junior football. During thier first season they finished 7th, 35 points behind the champions, a team from Belfast
however the team did win the league cup final after a 2-0 victory over Dromore Juniors.
The next season wasnt as good. No trophies followed and the lads struggled to an 8th placed finished. The management
decided a clear out was needed. During the summer of 2002 nine players where shown the door and sixteen where
brought in including Darren Dodds, Neil Gibson, Darren Jacobson, Leon Knight, Johnny McCully and David Hughes.
These six players and the rest that where brought in contributed to the double trophy victory that season. The lads finished
3rd in the leaue, but won the IFA Junior Cup and the League cup.
Most of the players that season where still at the club when it folded during the summer of 2005. To find out what
happened during the next few seasons you can read thier profiles to find out.
When the club was folded, someone was quoted as saying :
'' Over 5 years there has been ups and downs. Great wins followed by poor defeats. League glory so close then swiped
away at the last. But if the team could play just one more match I'd be delighted........maybe I could see Darren
pull off another awesome save......maybe I could see Leon burst down the wing again........maybe I could
see Johnny score another spectacular goal from an insane distance........maybe Neil will
finish off another great team move with a goal.........maybe.....''
